Yamhill County WW2, Korean vets can sign up for Honor Flight trip

Yamhill County veterans interested in going on an Honor Flight to Washington DC can sign up tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan 8th 2019) at the McMinnville Senior Center. Yamhill County Honor Flight Volunteer Peggy Lutz will be there to sign up veterans from nine am to noon at the Senior Center in McMinnville. World War 2 veterans get preference, but the program is now open to Korea and Vietnam veterans.

If you want to go and need a guardian, you need to provide someone to do that and and they have to pay their way. That is $1350.


Honor Flight is a program whereby veterans are taken to Washington DC to visit national veterans monuments. All expenses are paid for veterans. The next trip from the Portland hub will be the end of May and first of June. all expenses paid four day trip to Washington DC. 35 are already signed up. Only 25 will go. Usually not all vets who sign up can make the trip, which is the reason for the extra signups.
Honor Flight is now in 42 states. They have taken 143-thousand veterans since 2005
