YAMHILL COMMISSIONERS DISAGREE ON SCHOOL CHOICE RESOLUTION

Jan 10 2019
Yamhill County commissioners are divided on a school choice week proclamation. Newly election Commissioner Casey Kulla says he is in favor of school choice for parents, but rather does not endorse the financial backers of School Choice resolution week, saying it as misleading
He says the current voucher system permits the funneling of funds to the more wealthy schools. He also disagrees with the current Title 9 funding criteria, which he says prevents the most needy schools from getting money.

Commissioner Starrett says this resolution only supports the right for parents to choose education options, and she supports the proclamation.
Commissioner Olson supported the proclamation, it passed two to one.
