Oregon Highway 38 open again

REEDSPORT — Oregon 38 (Umpqua Highway) is now open from Reedsport to Elkton (milepost 0-36).

However, Oregon 38 is closed between Elkton and Drain (milepost 36-50), and Oregon 138W (Elkton to Sutherlin Highway) is closed to through traffic. Both closures are due to downed trees and powerlines (see photos). Workers are on site and making progress cutting and removing trees that are blocking the highway. Emergency service vehicles and local residents will be accommodated through the closure area. Motorists traveling from the Reedsport area to I-5 are advised to use alternate routes.

Elsewhere, U.S. 101 remains closed at milepost 344 (15 miles north of Brookings) due to a slide. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes. Tidewater Contractors of Brookings have been awarded a contract to re-open the highway and work is underway.
