Proposed MV Advancements complex gets first green light from city

A planned combination office/residential development by MV Advancements has passed the first hurdle with the McMinnville city council. On a “first reading”, the council gave approval to a zone change request from residential to an office/commercial zone. This would allow a mixed use development of office space and dwelling units.

City Councilor Remy Drabkin was the lone dissenter, concerned that the city only had a promise and not a formal agreement for the developer to build those 24 units. She says the city desperately needs multi family housing units, and to allow land zoned for multi unit dwellings to slip into a commercial zone on only a promise of development was something she could not support.

MVA Advancements wanst to locate company offices there, as well as living units for clients. The zone change request will have to come in front of council for a second reading, but most councilors seem to strongly support the project. Councilor Zack Geary says he was excited to see a very local company build a local multi unit housing project.

Linfield College is on record as supporting this specifically sized development and would not have sold the land to anyone wanting to do a large scale multi family development on site, such as a large condominium or apartment complex.
