Dayton boys take basketball district crown, Y-C girls 3rd

Stage is set for state tournament action.

Here are the match ups for the state tournament

Boys 3-A
Friday, Feb 22 (boys) Creswell at Dayton
(boys) Amity at Horizon Christian

Saturday, Feb 23
(girls) Yamhill Carlton at Brookings Harbor
(girls) Amity at Warrenton 6:30pm

In High school sports. In 3-A, Dayton boys taking championship honors in a game over Amity. Pirates winning by ten points, 53 to 43. Salem Academy over Blanchette Catholic 64 to 58.
in girls action, Yamhill Carlton winning a squeaker by two points over Amity girls, 60 to 58, Salem Academy besting Blanchett Catholic 42 to 31.

Friday night, Newberg and McMinnville both coming away with wins. Mac over Glencoe 53 to 40. Newberg downing Liberty 58 to 48. Sherwood over Century 66 to 49. In the standings, Newberg is third in the 6A Pacific Conference with a 7-3 record. Mac is 6th at three wins, 7 losses. Sherwood is number one at ten and one.

in Boys 3-A, Dayton is number one at nine and one, Amity comes in second at six and four.

Girls 3-A, Amity is 4th place at four wins, 6 losses, and Dayton is 5th place is three and 7. It’s pretty tight for first and second with Salem Academy and Blanchette Catholic, both at 9 and 1.

Brackets will be set tomorrow for State tournament play. KLYC will endeavor to cover as many local teams as we can. Stay tuned for details.
