Commissioners adopt bad behavior ordinance for transit system
Yamhill County Transit riders tired of bad behaviors on the transit system have some help on the way. County Commissioners meeting as the YCTA Board passed an ordinance designed to give the transit system en enforcement tool. This ordinance, which will go into effect in mid March allows riders engaging in disruptive behavior to be removed from the bus and not be allowed to use the sytem.
Four riders of the system were all smiles when commissioners passed this ordinance on second reading. The ordinance allows riders to be banned if they interfere with the safety or “enjoyment” of the sytem by other riders. Riders have complained to commissioners about profanity and loud language by some riders and were concerned that drivers were not making belligerent riders behave themselves.
