Carlton Christmas Eve barn fire cause is undetermined

The cause of a barn fire early Christmas Eve morning near Carlton is undetermined. Carlton Fire Chief Terry Lucich telling KLYC News that his department received the alarm around 2am and were on the scene until about 6am at 7351 Hendricks. Carlton Fire received assistance from Lafayette, Yamhill, McMinnville and Amity Fire departments.
No other structures were damaged other than an abandoned barn. Squatters area apparently living on the property and fire crews had to deal with various piles of items to get access to the fire.
Chief Lucich says the barn was not secured and several people had access to the property. The ownership of the property apparently is up in the air because the owner has recently died.
As of the time of our interview, Lucich did not have ready access to the property owner’s name.
